# How are sales tax collected?

## Learn how to charge the correct sales tax % on your sales.

### **Sales Tax:**

You can change the default sales tax rate for their auctions by going to: 

Settings --\> manage sales tax, and adjusting the percentage. 

Please note:

- Some sellers conduct auctions in places with a different tax rate.
- This means that the sale is subject to a different sales tax rate than the account default.
- With this in mind, you can change the tax rate for any given auction.

#### **TWO QUICK TIPS:**

1. The sale takes place wherever the seller is located.
2. If shipping an item, the shipper is taking the goods on behalf of the bidder.
3. AuctionNinja doesn't pay sales tax on behalf of our sellers, but we provide reporting tools so you can pay it yourself.
